But I thought James was so good. Honestly, he was probably nervous. Sometimes people act weird when they're nervous, y'know?

Melissa Leo, did you see her steal his cane? My God.

Natalie looked stunning. I am so glad she won.

Ugh, I am so upset about Alice in Wonderland.

And I think David Fincher EARNED that award, but I guess it went to Hooper.

But he basically acted like he does all the time (i.e. totally high), which just isn't appropriate for the Oscars and does not compliment his co-host. That kind of attitude is for the MTV Movie Awards where no one gives a shit. You have to put in a little effort with a dignified event and he just seemed totally absent the whole night.

Franco was a disaster! Poor Anne tried to salvage something but he just didn`t seem to care! It was embarrassing!

Also, the Best Actor and Best Actress presentations were nice in that the presenter said a few nice words about them first (and they sounded just as sincere as when the "friends" did it).
I was so happy they changed the format back to the original! Sandra Bullock was awesome!

Hated the Tom Hopper moment! :-p

To be honest I was disappointed with the fashion this year. There were no long pretty gowns :( I liked Halle Berry`s dress though!

Ah Javier and Penelope are such a power couple!

I felt bad for Anne. It's like being stuck with a partner who's a slacker in school. lol.

Sandra Bullock was awesome! Everyone says that she should host next year. That would be infinitely better than this.

I liked this year's fashion way more than last year's, but I'm not sure whose dress will be the "iconic" one. Probably Natalie's and maybe Cate Blanchett or Mila Kunis. I think last year, the only person's dress I really loved was Rachel McAdams.

I was mostly watching in and out because I was so bored during the whole show and I felt bad for poor Anne Hathaway. She came across as someone who seemed to be trying too hard but I really can't blame her since Franco was basically doing nothing and she had to carry the load most of the show.

I was expecting TKS to win already and had resigned myself to it but I was hoping that Best Director would go to Fincher instead of Hooper. Sigh.

Yeah, I don't think either of them really were amazing or horrible but at least Anne Hathaway showed proper respect for this 83 year old institution, while Franco was acting like someone hosting the MTV Movie Awards.

TKS for BP was a given, but I really thought they would at least give Fincher the Oscar, especially after BAFTA did it a few weeks ago. Oh well, he'll probably be the new Martin Scorsese and only win after like his 5th nomination or something.

Best Director - Worst choice ever in this category. And that's not a kneejerk reaction, but one carefully considered over the past 48 hours.

And worst show in my twenty-plus years of watching it. It was truly awful.

This guy sums it up well, particularly about Tom Feckin' Hooper:

I truly do not understand the Tom Hooper win. I mean, at least in the past when Best Picture went to the less acclaimed film, they usually give Best Director to someone else.

The double host should only be used if the two people have some kind of well-known professional and/or personal relationship, like if Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert hosted.

MAKE IT HAPPEN, UNIVERSE. Though, Jon's hosting gigs have always gotten mixed reviews. I think they should bring Steve Martin back.

I cannot believe that Penelope Cruz had a baby so recently. She looks FABOO. I wish I could look that great now, let alone after popping out a child. I like that she went for something sexier because she tends to go for big, voluminous gowns at the big awards (it was also nice since this season was about Javier instead of her).

I think people mostly were positive about Jon Stewart's 2005 hosting job. But for 2007, it should be noted that there had just been the big writer's strike that didn't get resolved until VERY close to the show, which means he couldn't use any WGA writers for most of the preparation. And he also just had the back luck of hosting in years where there were no big blockbusters nominated, so he has two of the lowest ratings.

Penelope looks amazing. They used to be so coy about showing up in public together, but now I hope one of them gets nominated like every year!
