mothers!

I do enjoy spending time with my parents, but sometimes they can be about as subtle as an anvil. I'd barely got in and given Mum and Grandma their gifts when they started chatting about Mrs So-an-So's son and Mr Such-and-such's nephew. It took a great deal of effort to grit my teeth and not say something about Ernie snippy. However, in retrospect I ( Read more... )

I'd think it would be quite annoying to be still seen as a little girl.

And personally, I'd just tell your mum to fuck off and that you're not interested.

I am not going to say that to my mother, Sylvie. Nine times out of ten she doesn't bother me and I know she only wants me to be happy.

A good parent would figure out what makes you happy and not try to push what they know would make them happy on you and expect the same results.

Sylvie, it would be best if you dropped this subject. Since you have a really bad experience of a mother believing they know what's best

I'm rather glad your father isn't to keen to marry you off myself.

I have a short day on Friday, if you'd like to go out for some dinner. I've heard excellent things about the Chinese restaurant, Wok'n'Roll I believe. Funny name, but the food is supposed to be excellent. And someone can cook for you for a change.

That would be lovely. Weird name or not, I rather enjoy Chinese food!

My thoughts exactly!

How have you been lately? I'm sorry I've been working so much, I've hardly had a moment to catch up.

Oh, it's all right, I've been frantically busy as well. Gringotts expects to get quite a glut of new trainees this year so we're revamping the programme a lot.

I hope your mother and grandmother leave you alone soon. I know how it feels, the female members of my family are practically convinced that I must be gay because I'm not married with at least one child already.

Oh they'll leave me be in a bit, it's just a periodic thing and besides, a proper Indian girl is supposed to be married by 25 or she's on the shelf for ever!

Sounds like you have it worse than me though!

That must be awfully frustrating sometimes.

You know what's stupid about the whole thing? My mother didn't even have me til she was 31. She seems to forget that little fact.

My parents are more relaxed than most so I'm not going to gripe too much.

Parents do edit their pasts.
