Character: Rokudo Mukuro
Canon: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Point in canon: Anime: Directly after helping Tsuna defeat Daemon Spade
Age: 15
Personality: Despite often being shown with a playful smile, Mukuro is seemingly apathetic to the suffering of others. Appearing as the series' first antagonist, Mukuro is not averse to disposing of those who get in his way, and is not easily intimidated, usually speaking to others in a very direct and arrogant manner. He cares little for others, and simply considers people to be "toys" or "tools" he can sacrifice in order to get to what he wants.
However, despite claiming that people are just toys, he seems to tolerate both Ken and Chikusa, and even protects them when need be, though he does not directly do so in front of them. He later sacrifices himself in order for Ken and Chikusa to safely escape from the Vendicare, and he also agrees to be the Guardian of the Mist in exchange for the two's safety.
Mukuro, along with Ken and Chikusa, is implied to have a strong dislike for the entire Mafia underground, possibly due in part to the experimentation he suffered as a child. However, not only does he have the desire to destroy the entire Mafia, he also wants to invoke world suffering by starting a world war, claiming to want to cleanse the world of its filth.
Though less obvious another bit of his personality he keeps hidden away is he hates being alone. As a child he could have easily gotten by alone with his powers but instead he asks Ken and Chikusa if they would like to come with him. Later on, when he's trapped in Vendicare his mind reaches out in an attempt to have someone to talk to, though is actually surprised that the girl Nagi was able to hear him at all. Realizing that he saves her and uses her as his key to the outside world away from his prison. Despite his attitude and claims to hate humanity, Mukuro is never truly alone. There is no indications as to why this is and because of how he is Mukuro would deny the fact if confronted about it just as he would if questioned about Ken and Chikusa being his friends.
And despite it all, there is one thing that has shown to be of great annoyance to Mukuro more than anything else. He hates it when people compare his hair to a pineapple. This is not only shown when he gets a rather childish revenge on Ken for bringing it up in a Haru-Haru Interview but also as he reacts violently whenever Fran calls him pineapple head in the future. It has also be said that Mukuro has a bit of a school uniform cosplay obsession for one reason or another.
History: Mukuro was born into the Estraneo Famiglia, the worst possible family in the mafia who's crimes were horrible even by their standards. Using children as human experiments they made their mistake by making Mukuro too powerful and he ended up slaughtering all of them at the age of ten. ("We dreamed of creating the world's strongest Pokemon... And we succeeded.") Before he left the family, he asked Ken and Chikusa if they would like to go with him as they were experimented on children as well. From then on, all three of them claimed to hold a great hatred for the mafia and wished to destroy it. Not too long after Mukuro got adopted into a different family. Though they had no idea, he possessed one of the other members Lancia and used him to kill off a bunch of others, eventually slaughtering the entire family. After that he used Lancia's guilt at the incident against him and used him as a 'Fake Mukuro' for appearances.
Eventually Mukuro, Ken and Chikusa along with Lancia and a few others, get locked up in a high security prison which is reserved for the most dangerous criminals who commit crimes against the Mafia. Basically one step below Vendicare. Two weeks before canon appearance though they break out right before Mukuro's scheduled execution, letting out other criminals in the process. After which they make their way to Namimori to find the heir to the Vongola famiglia.
Once in town they create the Kokuyo Gang, mostly made up of thugs from Kokuyo middle school along with a few of the criminals Mukuro brought with him from Italy. After that they kidnapped Fuuta and used his rankings to narrow down the strongest fighters in Namimori Middle School until they reached the Vongola family members. It turns out his entire reason was wishing to take control of the Vongola X's body in order to take over the mafia and destroy it from the inside out, creating world war in the process and virtually destroying the world.
A very notable point around this time was his meeting and defeating of Kyoya Hibari. Mukuro was honestly impressed by Hibari's skills as he was still able to fight even after Mukuro had broken several bones in his body. This resulted in Hibari not only having a vendetta against Mukuro himself almost to the point of stalking but also an unnatural hatred for illusionist in general since Mukuro cheated in the fight and used Hibari's weakness of Sakura against him. Mukuro's interest goes as far as ordering Ken and Chikusa later to watch Hibari's fight in the Ring Battles.
Once Tsuna had defeated Mukuro and his gang Vendicare showed up and arrested them. A month later it's shown that Mukuro has managed to find a way to exist outside as Reborn casually comments to a passing little boy that he seems lonely and he wouldn't mind taking him in. The boy's eye is shown to be possessed and Mukuro tells him maybe some day.
Before Varia's arrival Mukuro, Ken and Chikusa attempted their second jailbreak. Only this time it wasn't as successful as their first one since Vendicare is said to be impenetrable. Knowing they were going to get caught if they kept up Mukuro told Ken and Chikusa they should split up. He used the excuse that they would only slow him down though in reality he was buying them time. He knew there was no way all of them could make it out so he used himself as bait so that at least the two of them could escape. As consequence for his attempt Mukuro is moved into the lower levels of cells where only the most dangerous of the criminals are kept. Deep in the dungeons where not even light and sound can reach he is suspended in a tank of water with a tube connected to his mouth and a second one attached to his right eye, wrapped in chains. Overkill, maybe. But even those extreme measures aren't enough to get Mukuro down for long.
Allowing his mind to wander idly, he accidentally came across a girl dying in the hospital named Nagi. He was merely talking to himself when he commented about her situation and was surprised when she responded to him. Taking pity on the girl's situation as well as seeing her as his key to the outside world he used his illusions to save her in exchange for being allowed to control her body at times. Thus she could not live without him and he could not exist in the outside world without her. He even gave her a new name, both her first and last anagrams of his own.
Iemitsu took that opportunity to approach Mukuro and bribe him. Their deal was that if Mukuro agreed to become the Vongola Mist Guardian then Iemitsu would make sure Ken and Chikusa, who were still escaped convicts, would be safe from Vendicare. When Chrome could not handle fighting the arcobaleno Mammon in the battle Mukuro took over. It was obvious their power differences as Mukuro had no issues effortlessly crushing Mammon in the battle. At one point Mammon stating it was blasphemous that even being an illusionist Mukuro was highly skilled in martial arts. Later on he also helped the Vongola out by informing Lancia of Xanxus's plans and asked him to help them out once the Sky Battle ended.
During the Arcobaleno Trials arc Mukuro isn't really sure what's going on, or why Chrome keeps disappearing from him. All he knows is that it has something to do with Tsuna and the Vongola. He does however get caught up in the trials himself as Skull has the oh so brilliant idea of getting Tsuna's two most dangerous guardians together and using Mammon's illusions trick them into being mad at and attacking Tsuna. Sadly, Skull failed to do his homework. When the illusion of Tsuna was bullying Chrome Mukuro showed up to confront and chase it. Though later states he knew the entire time it wasn't really Tsuna as he had beaten Mammon before. He was merely curious and bored and wanted to see what would happen. Hibari, also not fooled by the illusion, also chased it out of boredom.
Skull was overly distressed as instead of attacking Tsuna, Hibari and Mukuro went at each other within seconds of coming face to face. The arcobaleno attempted to rectify this by summoning all of his men to attack them instead. It was there a very rare occurrence took place. Mukuro and Hibari ended up back to back as they were surrounded, quickly disposed of all of the men and ran off into the forest together to continue their fight where they wouldn't be interrupted again. Once Tsuna defeated Skull he used his speed in hyper dying will mode to come between Mukuro and Hibari, telling them to stop fighting. Mukuro agrees easily, saying that the battle amused him and tells Tsuna that if he's going to be taking Chrome out of his reach then he has to make sure to protect her for him. He then states that he had reached his limit and disappears.
During the entire Inheritance arc Mukuro wasn't to be seen even though Chrome had been taken over by Deamon Spade. It seems he was sitting back and watching to see how things would play out. But when Daemon took over Kokuyo Land and used his illusions to trick Tsuna into hurting Chrome's friends Mukuro finally showed himself and easily blocked a weakened X-Burner with his trident. Mukuro then held a short conversation with Daemon expressing his disapproval of the other's actions but when Daemon asks him what he intends to do about it things become quite obvious that Mukuro was intentionally distracting the 1st Mist Guardian while Tsuna prepared to attack him. As Daemon attempts to use his illusions to confuse the boy like he had before a simple tap of Mukuro's trident expels the powerful illusion and catches the other off guard.
After being defeated Daemon questions Mukuro bout his motives, constantly referring to Mukuro as Mist Guardian despite the fact that the title annoys him. Mukuro only states that his reasoning for helping out was that he didn't want Chrome to be sad from her friends getting hurt. When questioned further he explains his plans of wanting to destroy the entire mafia and have world domination, shocking even the traitorous Deamon Spade in the process. Though despite that he claims that Mukuro has potential and is deemed worthy of the title of Mist Guardian, of which Mukuro states he really doesn't care about and leaves Chrome to deal with the ending after informing Tsuna that he once again leaves the girl in his care.

Regular Post: My my...
[There's a soft sigh]
I find it oddly convenient that there's a portable radio here but I'm in no position to be complaining. If there's anyone out there, mind informing me what exactly is going on? Although this place is much preferable to the one I came from it would be nice to know I'm not the only one here.
And my little Chrome, I know you're out there somewhere. I can still feel you. My powers seem to be weakened by my body's state, I know of no other way to contact you than this for the time being. Though I'm not positive if you possess one of these devices...
Log Post: A shiver racked the soaked prone form on the ground and it instinctively curled in on itself from the cool breeze that swept by. Mismatched eyes slowly opened, finding it slightly difficult to focus. Mukuro couldn't understand what was going on. Normally he had such control over his mental state, what could possibly have shaken it so badly? And then it hit him. He was shivering, he was breathing on his own, and from his position on the ground he knew he could move freely. Gone were the chains, the water, the air tube... All of it. He was free. Soaking wet and cold as all hell but free none the less.
Trying to regain his bearings the Mist guardian pulled himself into a sitting position, a hand running through his hair to brush the bangs away from his face as he pondered over what was happening. Taking in his surroundings he found himself to be sitting in what appeared to be an orchard. Well, at least he would be able to deal with the hunger issue. When he felt like making an attempt at standing at least. Knowing full well his legs wouldn't be cooperative after such a long time without use he figured he'd save that little problem for later.
The more aware of everything he became the harder he found it to pull off his usual smile. Something was right. As he fully came to himself Mukuro noticed a dire issue. It seemed he could only access three of his Realms. The Human Realm he could live without, he never much liked that one in the first place unless it was life or death. But the loss of his two possession based ones...that could prove to be an annoyance.
Slightly confused and his body getting use to free movement he allowed himself to fall onto his back. He closed his eyes with a small sigh before his smile slowly lifted onto his face. Body as useless as it seemed for the time, that pinprick...That little spark of energy somewhere off in the distance... Yes, things would be alright for now. As long as he could still feel that light, her light, he knew he wasn't completely at a loss.
