Now I don't ship Erica/Lloyd , I see them as more familial (yes in spite of him looking at her breasts) and I do ship Julianne/Lloyd because I see him as being more in need of mental health help than him and it could be a he helps her and then she helps him kind of thing that gets through the potential doctor /patient barriers .
Now having said that, I absolutely LOVE this! I can see Erica making this decision , overpowering any objections Lloyd has by logic and getting to his sex drive . Then breaking the news that might hurt him after he's in a much better mood. I would love to see more like this or any longer fic especially if you wrote some of them running together since they'd do much better together.
I don't know if I ship them per se, like if it happened on the show I'd really only want it to be casual and need-based like this. But there's an appeal in that for me. And I think it makes sense for Erica, because she goes out of her way not to bond with the others, so this is kind of a way in for her. And Lloyd, sometimes I get the sense that he wants so desperately to bond with another human being (not just sexually) that he'd take it wherever he could get it.
Randomly hilarious: today, my husband told me Lloyd is the reason to watch the show, and all the guys who say they watch mainly for Erica are lying. She's their 'Lloyd-beard', apparently. =P
Also Lloyd viewing Erica in a familial way in spite of looking at her breasts kind of feeds into his mommy issues awesomely. XD
I see Lloyd as being pretty desperately lonely yet afraid to try to connect.
He still throws up a few barriers when he can (like mentioning he graduated summa cum laude from Harvard) because most of his barriers have been forcibly stripped from him. Fear of losing his protective layers could also be why he would not have sought out psychiatric help when he was free. He has serious potential to be an open walking wound.
Erica tries not to bond to keep from losing anyone else but I think she bonded with Lloyd when she decided to take him with her when she ran.
I think you're right about all this. And I think Erica began to bond with him then, maybe even because of the fact that he would have needed to run if she did rather than going back to maximum, and has since gotten a bit more protective of him in her own measured way. I really hope their relationship gets more development on the show.
I'm waiting on the season 1 DVDs in the mail. It's a cruel wait! But I'll definitely have some more concrete opinions and ideas of what I want to do with the characters once I rewatch.
Thank you! I really had fun writing it. And both Lloyd and Erica kind of do it for me, albeit in very different ways. It's likely I'll keep writing this pairing! I have nothing against Lloyd/Julianne (although Julianne is just kind of background for me at best) but that's already being written here and there. Lloyd/Erica on the other hand... =)
Thank you! I really enjoyed writing it. They're a fun pairing to play around with. I'd love to see deeper - though not necessarily sexual - interactions between them on the show since every time they pair up superficially interesting things seem to happen.
