Today was mostly uneventful. I did almost none of my homework last night, but I was a good friend and talked to RoRo on the phone for over an hour. I foresee going to math extra help at some point (I had to go to a battle meeting instead this morning ) and I actually really have to read that book for english. Maybe I'll be able to find a summary online :/
I met this terrible girl that Kim is friends with. Her name is Sara, and she is one of those preppy/scene hybrids that just sort of happened through marketing by big business and the 'emo' fad. She is wearing skinny jeans, converse and a loose white sweater-a brand name, though it eludes me at the moment. We were (me, Kim, and this girl) sitting by the school entrance during eighth period and some guys come in. We talk about this that kid Niko, and Sara says, "He is too emo. I hate emo kids, oh my god. I. Hate. Emo. Kids." Not ten minutes later, a slutty guido chick comes in, talking on a cell phone. After she's left, Sara declares, "I hate preppy girls >:["
We move onto the subject of music and she proclaims that she hates rock and pop and "I only listen to underground rap. Everything else is like.."
Kim says, "I know! It's like--"
Sara cuts her off, "yeah! All they listen to is, like, Akon and shit."
"No, I mean, like, rock. It's all fuckin 'Forever The Sickest Kids..it all sounds the same."
The conversation segues into Sara saying, "I hate screamo." I laugh and say that I like it sometimes. It's only when you really can't understand any words that you know you're listening to garbage. Kim agrees, mentioning Underoath as an example of good screamo.
"Oh, I like screamo sometimes..but not like, emo-screamo? Like...punk screamo," Sara liessays.
So, not to be biased and shit, but somehow I doubt she actually listens to 'punk screamo'. Because, really? There's no such thing. The 'punk' revolution really died before screamo came about.
Well, I hate people. Nothing new.
