I can seriously not get over how terrible Brennan's haircut is

Seriously. It's SO BAD.

Yay, Brennan, thank you! I was raised in a household where we put the lid down too, partly so the dog couldn't drink out of it, partly because it looks better, and partly for that very reason. It's why I think the whole "classic" argument over the lid is stupid: if you put the lid down for all those very excellent reasons, everyone has to do the same amount of work. So, awesome. I love when Brennan agrees with me. :P

I have great admiration for whomever wrote that Shakespeare scene. Clever!

Hey Sweets? They're right. They are frequently in situations where they could die or lose people they love. They've learned how to, as Brennan puts it, "persevere". If Hannah HAD died, I'd maybe agree with you, but the fact that Booth isn't prostrate weeping over her near miss doesn't make him in denial. And it's not like he could actually be with her during the surgery anyway.

Dancing Dude is right. I was rolling my eyes over the "police brutality" thing, but I can't be annoyed at him for saying they'd already decided he was guilty. Much as I love them, Booth and Brennan really do take that tack in investigation. But then, most people on cop shows do, and they're never called out on it. I HATE when suspects are viewed as automatically stating their guilt if they want a lawyer. Yes, it makes your job harder, and that can be annoying, and I really believe that most cops want to do the right thing. But you really, really shouldn't be pressuring them to ignore their rights. (Beckett on Castle is particularly guilty of this, and it drives me crazy.) And if they really didn't do anything, the lawyer isn't going to make that more difficult to figure out: it's just protection against cops who jump to conclusions (and yes, Brennan, that means you).

Oh, Booth. "I'm not a betting man." Yes you are! That's the problem! Haha.

I really enjoy the way Hannah and Brennan talk to each other. I kind of feel like Hannah thinks she's talking to a child sometimes, but the rest of the time, they have very frank and knowledgeable conversations. Like the thing about gifts as sacrifice.

I really do talk about Bones much more than any other show. But it gives me more to talk about! I do have something to say about Community, though!

Good episode. I really enjoy any time when Joel McHale fails to wear real shirts (such as last season's paintball episode, which was, of course, a work of genius for many other reasons). But beyond that, I really enjoyed it. My only real issue was with Pierce and the broken legs. Community is firmly based in a real world, with realistic actions and consequences, and even if things are sometimes (ok, usually) over the top, they're rarely full-on impossible. Even the craziness of the zombie outbreak didn't seem bizarre in the world where Community's set. Pierce shooting off the trampoline hundreds of feet in the air, complete with zooming effects? Where the hell did that come from?

That was just one moment of failure in an otherwise great episode, though. The magical lighting in the trampoline garden and Abed's weird robot thing were both effects that not only made sense in context, they made me grin. Glorious. I love when they break Abed's conditioning like that. (I keep remembering the episode where they found the drawing of Abed in the textbook, especially his Mad Men-style charming of Annie. Which I find particularly hilarious given her role on that show.)

The other great thing about Community is that they really never shy away from making the characters unlikable. (Credit where it's due: I totally first read this in this article, and this one about Arrested Development), both of which are smarter than me and well worth reading. But since reading that, I've been thinking about it a LOT.) We're not really supposed to root for any of them, but we can't help ourselves. Jeff's an unabashed asshole, and many of the others are selfish and sometimes thoughtlessly cruel, but we love them anyway, because it's realistic and also hilarious. This wouldn't work in a less creative, less absurd, and less funny show, but here it's part of what makes the show so great. And why it's one of the shows I most look forward to every week.

PS: I don't know if any of you have seen this yet, but: this video is a clip from next week's Glee. It's wonderful. I keep watching it over and over. Ever since they came out, I've held that both "California Girls" and "Teenage Dream" were terrible songs: there's no real melody, but it's out of Katy Perry's range so she's both straining and auto-tuned all to hell, and the lyrics are stupid. Just, terrible songs. (I do rather like "Hot n' Cold" and "Waking Up in Vegas", so yeah.) This video makes me think that maybe the problem isn't the songs, but the fact that Katy Perry can't sing. Also, Kurt is SO ADORABLE in this. His face! I just want to hug him. So much happiness. Really looking forward to this storyline.
