Suddenly, the world stops. Sometime later, Dean will probably be impossibly embarrassed by the choked sob that escapes his lips, but at the moment his eyes are firmly set on the figurine attached to the cord.
A few seconds later, he realizes he’s still staring at it, and looks back at Sam. He should probably say something. Words. Words are good. Speaking should follow.
“Dean?” Sam’s asking, looking hopelessly small and young. There’s a look there, one Dean finally knows and understands. Sam is putting everything on the line here, Dean knows. Sam was the one brave enough to take the first step into this uncharted territory and Dean can finally see it all on his face, plain as day. This is Sam, offering everything. No games.
“Are you serious?” is what comes out when Dean finally finds his vocal cords. Are you serious about what we’re doing here? Are you serious about us? Are you serious with trusting me with this when I’ve thrown it away once before?“Yes

I loved that, when Dean saw the amulet, he realized Sam was taking this seriously - and then he did, too.
