Dumbledore's dead, the wardens whispered, gossiping down the stairs from Gellert Grindelwald's cell. Was it one of his own professors? I heard it was a student, the Malfoy boy… Their voices carried down the hallway and to the old man's ears, and at first he couldn't believe them. Surely the greatest wizard in history would die years from now, safe and warm in his own bed, not in a duel with a former student atop the Astronomy Tower of Hogwarts.
Dumbledore's dead, Dumbledore's dead, the whispers came

Thank you.
and oops... the parts in italics and the parts Grindelwald said to himself were meant to be in German. I was going to let someone else use my computer for a bit, and forgot to run that dialogue through Google Translate. :p

Dumbledore ist tot, Dumbledore ist tot. "Also ist Albus nicht umgeben von seinen Freunden gestorben,"... "Es tut mir leid, mein Freund, mir am aller meisten."
'sorriest' is kinda untranslatable into German. You meant he's sorriest of all others, right? If you just meant something like 'really sorry' go for "Es tut mir leid, mein Freund, mehr als leid."
If you still want to post this to your LJ and include the German phrases ;)
And damn. Dumbledore/Grindelwald has, in my head, always been a really tragic romance, especially after Rowling revealed Dumbledore was gay. They're a lot like Charles and Erik from X-Men, actually. Sad stuff.

Yeah, the original phrase in English was "so very sorry", but I don't know if there's a phrase that means the same thing in German. That's why I tried to go for "sorriest", thinking there would be a corresponding term in German.
Du/Gr's definitely sort of Charles/Erik. That's the closest corresponding pairing in another fandom, at least.
