I feel I should mention that I was at my little brother's graduation about a month ago, and the assistant superintendent of our school district tried to pass off that speech, word for word, as his own.

Also, for particularly difficult algebra, a good piece of bubblegum is an effective way to stop thinking about it for a minute, which in turn is one of the best ways to solve a difficult problem.
