Cards and Stuff

Since this is of no interest to the vast majority of my friends list, I'll put it all behind a cut.

Cut for Tim's Magic the Gathering Thing )

some useful tips especially the tilde trick as i've been writing CARDNAME which also works. it might be worth mentioning thaat iirc threshold is an ability word like chroma and kinship which should be in italics and include how to use the ability in the text.

Yes, but unless you uncheck the "pseudo" checkbox on the set info page, it will do that automatically anyway.

i think my main point is that ability words are not keywords (which may become important)

Hmm, I hadn't actually noticed that Threshold wasn't a keyword any more. I knew how it works now and I knew it used to be a keyword, but I hadn't noticed I was reading errataed text on all the threshold cards...

The only time I can see it actually being relevant is if a card specifically refers to keyword abilities, but since one of mine does I should probably edit that...

I totally have a mono-green card with at least one instance of lifelink. And it is staying that way!

I had a green card that allowed you to gain control of equipment, which is waaay out of scope for green, but made sense for green flavour (I changed the card, but only because I couldn't find an illustration) and lifelink is way easier to justify in green than that.

Actually, I seem to remember reading a great article about cards being in colour in feel rather than text... I'll have to see if I can find it.

I don't think this is the article I was thinking of, but it makes some good related points (regarding Molten Firebird in particular).

Originally, all my green creatures were mutants who had un-green abilities. For flavour reasons. But after I realised how unnecessarily complicated some of the cards were I ditched a lot of that. I've still got the lifelinking Wurm though. He rocks.

Yeah, so I thought I'd fixed all these issues, but neither of my burn spells said "This card deals damage." They just dealt damage. And my bringing land back from the graveyard referred to "Land" rather than "a land card." So I guess you got me.

Thanks!

(My red counter that is a fairy is staying in as well.)

- When the program incorrectly guesses whether you want a number to be a mana symbol or not you can force it to be a mana symbol using square brackets (e.g. [3]) or force it not to be with inverted square brackets (e.g. ]3[)

it seems you can do this with T and Q as well
