Let's look at the issues shall we? Obama has pledged to fight for gun control and disarm the United States to make it a safer place to live? Now, aren't underage drinking and marijuana illegal right now? Does this mean that there is none of this going on? Absolutely not! So, just like those two, let's make it illegal for the good upstanding citizen to own a gun. That way the criminals get to be the only ones with weapons. Wow, what a bright idea. Last I checked there were also restrictions globally on nuclear weapons development. Does that stop the terrorists? Why don't we disarm our military so that the terrorists can come in and bomb us with no retaliation. According to Obama those are two of the best ideas. PRO-CHOICE, last time I checked murder was illegal in this country. Wait every good law needs a loop hole. Sorry, I forgot. Also, let's take God even further away from our nation. I like your journal entries. I celebrated by myself in Eli's room because he left for work, and I stayed and played Katamari for a while. I should've texted you even though it was a school night and getting late. We can make brownies and watch Buffy soon if you like. I have some brownie mix that I can eat and if you like applesauce or bananas we can use those in place of eggs. :) People would get abortions if it was illegal anyway. People getting upset about two people loving eachother is crazy. Anyway, I am excited and hopeful as well.

Some sort of people are crazy though. I have attempted to have quite a few political conversations with my mother, and it always ends with her saying something about her fluffy comfortable version of conservative Christianity. You can't win against that.
i don't think pcs is the problem, honestly. i think people as a whole are the problem. people don't want to take the time to take thoughtful stances on issues because thinking is uncomfortable, so they blindly swallow some trite party lines and hope no one makes them examine their beliefs too closely. this is true of people of all political persuasions.
the thing about pcs is that it puts us directly in contact with a large collection of people who follow republicanism blindly -- and it exposes them, for the most part, to only like-minded people, deepening their conviction that they are Right and the rest of us are probably hell-bound. it makes them think that respect for others' personhood and opinions falls below the need to "convert" others to their Rightness.
