something to think about...

I've been reading a book lately, and it has some quite amazing quotes in it at times, among a great story.   I'm only just over 12o pages in, and it is 900+ pages long, but I've spoken to three people who've read it and they've all told me it will be a page-turner that can't be put down.   This bit I read tonight really struck me...

That's pretty great in a painful, realistic kind of way.

Is it a novel? Do you recommend?

Oh, and Hi.

*hug*

I certainly do recommend. It has the word "fiction" on the back cover, but it is based on the actual happenings in the life of the author, so I cannot tell you if it is a novel or not, but it is written like one.

Seriously, do a google on it and check out whatever is written, because you'll be interested by what you find.

And hi back, and thanks for the hug...I could sure use it.

That's a looonnnnnggggg book! Good luck! I too, love to read, and also need to keep up my walking. I have to remind myself not to get so cozy with my reading that I procrastinate about the walking.

I don't know about the quote. I don't know about the "...some truths about yourself are so painful, only shame can help you live with them..." I'm a bit wary of the roles of guilt and shame. The quote certainly is food for thought. I don't know if I want to read 900 pages with that much food for thought. But it looks like a good, if challanging, book. Good luck!

oh kindstar...I hope I didn't give it across as the wrong sort of book...it is actually about a guy (the author) who robbed banks and was incarcerated, before escaping and becoming Australia's most wanted man for 10 years. During that time he traveled to different places, but spent much time in India where he ran a free clinic for slum-dwellers, and also did counterfeiting, and a whole lot of other criminal things.

It's a good read so far.

No, it certainly didn't come across like "...the wrong kind of book..." Sorry if I gave that impression. I did Google the title and read about the book and the author. It sounds like an extraordinary adventure, by someone who would certainly have a broad range of feelings, many of them complex.
It's the "900" pages that gets to me. That's a LOT of reading of one book!

and unfortunately the text size is not big either, with small margins. Page-number-wise, it isn't the longest book I've read, but sometimes getting stuck into a big book can be amazingly rewarding...

I'd never heard of it before my friend lent it to me...word-of-mouth goes a long way, especialy with the amount of books published each year.
