Religious Tolerance (X-posted to my Myspace)

(Yeah I know I said I was taking a break from updating, but I have to rant, LOL)

Alright, if you don't agree with a particular religion, fine. State your reasons why you have a problem with them and be done with it. But don't whine and bitch about people being intolerant of your religious beliefs (or lack thereof), and then show the same amount of ( Read more... )

What I just LOVED about that post is how originally the guy was like "Why are you being intolerant of me!? This is what I hate about Christians! I am totally tolerant and just expressing my personal beliefs, man!!"

Yeah... that's why you called religious people "crazy." *rolls eyes* What a moron.

If someone wasn't there constantly preaching or pushing some agenda I don't think they would get too crazy about membership.

I don't think they are really disrespecting these groups at all (though they could be). Apparently its a restricted private group for Christian universalists to discuss things amongst themselves.

Tolerance can never be absolute otherwise there could never be any criteria for group membership or direction to a club.

I am sure there are plenty of general universal groups or wiccan groups out there though. If you find a good universalist group let me know!

I didn't read the thread you axed, which is why I didn't say anything about it when he brought it up. I saw it on the forum list though, and I read the first few sentences and then hit Back because it seemed like a joke and didn't make any sense to me. So I was surprised when I saw him complaining. The thing is, in that forum, you have to use your descretion as to what is acceptable and what is just plain useless.

There's another LJ user who complians every other entry that she feels "persecuted" for being a conservative evangelical Christian in the Deep South. Actually, I don't think anyone cares if she's a Christian. People dislike her because she uses her religion to justify acting like she's better than everyone else. There are atheists I dislike because they have the same attitude!
