Finally catching up on some of my fic reading. What a poignant tale--I love the "outsider views" of Aragorn, and I've often wondered what the Gondorian soldiers thought of Aragorn suddenly taking charge of their army. His thoughts and reflections really feel spot on. I adore Aragorn's Henry V-style walkabout through the camp. And I like how you ended it--blending book and movie, because that "for Frodo" moment SHOULD have been in the books, dadgumit, and leaving it open ended as to this soldier's fate. I'll imagine he made it back to Minas Tirith, where he'll share his story with his grandchildren some day. :)

Thank you! Yep, I, too, love outsider POV's. Perhaps a little too much, as you may have noticed! ;)

It's funny. Several people have mentioned Henry V in their reviews, but I've actually never read that play and didn't realize the similarities. I was kind of a Shakespeare geek in high school and read a lot of the comedies and tragedies but none of the histories. Oh, well. If you're gonna rip off, you might as well rip off from the greats!

I'm so glad you enjoyed this tale. *hugs*
