What am I doing with my life?

Since I have to wait until next september to enroll in school out here (resident status), I figure now is a good time to re-evaluate things.

I'm looking into other areas of study that I can use the units I already have. I only need about 16 more units to complete my AA in in Culinary arts, but that has no real purpose out here. Plus, its not really ( Read more... )

You could always deal drugs. I hear that it has a very lucrative market. Plus, since turn-around rate is kinda high, so you should have no problem jumping in.

Lots of options available if you don't mind studying. Accounting is good and steady money and if you like process intensive work, it's a lot of fun. In my opinion, IT is over loaded but there are a lot of opportunities for women as many IT shops are looking for ways to diversify and women are few. The industry requires constant retraining but it can be enjoyable. If you don't mind taking care of the most insane neurotic people in the world, paralegals make good money and it's a pretty got starting point if you decide you have in interest in the law and want to peruse a JD. Sales is always good money if you're good at it and appearance is very important in sales so you've got a leg up, two legs up actually. Two long, sexy legs up ;-). Behind the scenes work in TV or Radio is something that's always interested me but I've never perused it. Could be something there. What you may want to do is a self inventory. Write down a lists of your assets (nice legs, friendly demeanor, good chef), your likes and dislikes (process oriented work, the ( ... )

At the age of 30 Shana is back in school for a new career. Next year I will be starting school again as well and changing careers again. When I'm out and done with school I'll be 37 (OH GOD!!!) More over, I don't think either she or I will be done with school after that’s done. I know she's been talking about her PHD in education and I'll probably start working on my MBA when I'm 40. My point is that changing your life in a major way shouldn't be about how MUCH time you have left to enjoy the change you made but that you do enjoy the change you made no matter how much time you have left. Also, there are several studies that show that people who continue to exercise their brains by learning new things whether in school or in the work place are significantly less likely to develop all sorts of mental weaknesses later in life. I want to be physically fit when I'm 80 but I also want to be mentally fit so I'm never giving up on learning for learning’s sake.
