Book nerdery.

As a means to avoid watching the NFL playoffs with my father I started and finished the first book towards my goal of 50 this year. I saw a movie last night with a really good soundtrack, so I stopped at a store on the way home to see if I could find it. I could not. But I did find a copy of Night by Elie Wiesel, so I picked that up instead. It ( Read more... )

You should start reading 1984 now that you've seen Children of Men and read a book about the Nazi work camps. It will polish off the trifecta of modernist destruction quite nicely.

I've tried to get it the last few times I've visited the library, but it's always gone. I don't know if it's book report season or if someone has stolen it, but knowing the suckiness of the local library, they probably just don't have it.

Troy told me there's a really neat scene when the main guy is running though a city being shot at and bombs blowing up and stuff and that it was one uncut scene 7 minutes long being shot by one camera guy that was running along with the camera on his shoulder. Apparently it's pretty cool and Troy wants to see it for that reason alone.

The part I was talking about might come at the end of that scene, but I can't remember. The entire movie was really well made though (camera work and cinematography etc.), so even if you don't like it, there's a feast for the eyes!

I heart WEEZER...the green Album is good, but Pinkerton is my favorite!

I am a fan as well, but don't own any of their albums. I was telling our good friend Monique as much the other day, and then we went to this used record store, where the Green album jumps out at me. I had to get it.

I picked up a copy of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell from the library today to read before I go. I don't honestly think it will happen though, it's nearly 900 pages long and I leave a week from thursday.
I'll be in town soon! I'm thinking of convincing my sister and a few other friends to go kareoking (sp?) with me before I go, you want in?

Oh my. You'll have to let me know when these festivities are taking place. I have a few things on the horizon, but plenty of open spaces as well.

I've been able to listen to both albums since, and I really like them. I'm not sure if I like Debut as much as Homogenic, but it's close.

And Children of Men is the only movie I've seen in a long time that I was still thinking about a few days after seeing it.
