i picked up a copy of steinbeck's east of eden a few years back but never had the chance to read it before now. and, of course, when i say 'had the chance' what i really mean is 'had the dedication to read a 600-page novel.' but that's not important now. no. because east of eden is the novel i am choosing to kick-off my very own winter reading

I didn't read Heart of Darkness either. I hated it and gave up, but I wrote a poem about how much I thought it was crap and Sackrider was apparently amused enough by it that he didn't bother to make me finish it.
Good idea, by the way. I may copy it.

yeah, i 'read' heart of darkness the same way. i tried to skim what i needed to for class, but even that didn't last long.
