Handle this song with care

My current momentary addiction is the song "Handle me with care" by the Travelling Wilburys. Holy mackerel that's such a good song. And it has such a great video clip too. I remember seeing this song when I was a kid and remembering it completely differently ( Read more... )

I just spent far too long thinking about this. Mainly because it made me realise how little I know about the relative strengths of the secondary players in most of the bands I like - there's lots of lead singers that I'd be fascinated to see play together, but who would I pick to play the drums? I really know the names of very few drummers or bass guitar players. All I could decide for sure is that it would have to involve Robert Smith, which should come as no surprise.

On a closely related note I'm very curious to see what the collaboration between Ben Folds and Amanda Palmer will bring.

Hm... How about John Wetton (of King Crimson), Geoff Downes (of Yes and the Buggles), Carl Palmer (of Emerson, Lake and Palmer) and Steve Howe (of Yes)?

Oh wait, that's been done.

That's the only supergroup I ever got into, really. I'm delighted that they're back together and touring a bit, even if they don't sound (or look) as sharp as they used to... ;)

Pity we're missing so many members of the Wilburys these days.

I'm not familiar with Asia (that's them, right?)

I never really understood the Travelling Wilburys when I was young. Turns out I'm way too late :(

Yep, Asia. Back in the day it was referred to as the first 'supergroup.'
