Both guys desperately seeking assurances really amped up the angst.
What a great cover for the CD. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the Christian music world. I can't imagine that they will be pleased that such a heavenly voice comes out of a gay man.
I hope that Phillip remembers that he's the main man and stays strong no matter what happens.
Welcome back! Philip is being realistic, but I have hope for these two. Cat seems genuine. He'll learn to deal with the press and the fans and all that, but I don't think he will change as a person, except in the way everyone does over time. At least I hope he won't -- I love this couple. I worry more about Phil's reactions, but he's a very successful business man, which should help to damp down his insecurity a little. Again, I hope! Ann Marie
I love the Brian in him!reader1May 14 2006, 20:03:08 UTC
Randall, I just loved the little ways that Brian and Cathan are alike in this chapter. The "Did you get a look at my boyfriend?" and the remarks about him being rich were so snarky like Brian. And Cathan using Brian 's memory to get Phillip to blow him right there was perfect, but I have to wonder about him evoking Brian's memory when they had that blow up in the past about Phil calling out Brian's name.
I also loved how you showed the vulnerable side of Phil and Cat, wondering how fame and fortune were going to change their relationship. How naive is Cat?! I just hope that his inner goodness and character (just like Brian I might add) let them survive the coming storms.
Another great chapter, Randall. I didn't think you could really get me to vote for this pair, but you have. Other than B/J and Brog/Parker, I am hoping for this couple the most. S
This was sweet and a little sad. Like all the best love stories.
Phillip's right. Things will change.
But he's also right when he says that things always change - even without the cd, even with Cat's impending fame, things would still change.
I have to believe that they can survive the changes.
And a lot of that will be down to how Phillip deals.
Because it won't be just the little fanny boys and girls who will be panting after Cat.
There will be a lot of very attractive men in pursuit of him. The Raine Paines of the world. Men like Phillip himself. Men like Brian (well, okay, men trying to be like Brian lol).
And Phillip is going to have to deal with many many issues of jealousy and maybe even envy and fears of losing Cat. All of it.
Yes. True. I was thinking that Cat was used to that, used to having to cope with that.
But after reading your comment, I realised that, yes, he's used to the "I have to pinch myself to believe this beautiful and successful man wants me" way of being with Phillip.
But that will inevitably change, even without Cat's fame, as Cat grows more comfortable in his gay skin, as he grows up in other ways.
It will be very interesting to see how they both deal with that fact.
You're right, the whole thing is going to be very interesting.
What a pretty man. Nice hair! I love his Texan’s description of the stylist as a horse fly and the way he speaks plainly to him, “Did you get a look at my boyfriend?” Pretty boys, indeed. He and Phillip are a joy together, so in love.
How cool for the restaurant patrons to get an impromptu serenade from him. If anyone can avoid getting caught up in his own celebrity it’s Cathan. He has always been so clear on why he is singing. Still, Phillip has a point. The thought of paparazzi and tabloids is unsettling.
