JUSTIN'S POV:
Okay, didn't think it was possible but the inside of this house is scarier than the outside. It's dark and smells of mold. There's very little furniture and what there is is dusty and old. Every window is tightly shuttered and curtains are drawn across the shutters. The vampire is walking upstairs and when I hear a noise, I look back and see this white, skinny mutant scurry across the threshold and stare up at me with hungry eyes. OMIGOD!
I rush to catch up with the vampire who looks over his shoulder to grin at my fear. What if Brian isn't even here? What if this is all an elaborate trick to get my blood? What if Brian is already a vampire? Holy shit, I just want to be back in Pittsburgh, worrying about my parents finding out I'm gay! There's a tray of food outside a closed door and the vampire says to me, "Pick that up like a good boy. It's your lover's breakfast."
I do as I am told. No point in taking a stand with this guy. I am smart enough to understand he could do me some major damage without much effort. He opens the door and I see Brian in the bed. Mostly asleep. I set the tray down and rush over to him, placing a hand on his bare shoulder. He gives me a sleepy squint and then looks confused. He's still Brian, not a vampire, but there's blood on his neck, and on the sheets. Gross. He sits up and stares at me. "What the fuck?"
Eric sits down on the bed, grinning at us. "I sent for a little treat for you."
"This is not a treat," Brian responds. "This is a trick. And that's all this is."
"Not according to him," Eric stares at his fingernails as he speaks. I notice they are normal in length not like Nosferatu's claws.
"Seriously, go home," Brian says to me. "You are way out of your bandwidth here."
"So are you."
Brian reaches past me for a croissant on the tray and takes a bite before filling a mug with coffee and sucking it down. "Is this supposed to be funny?" He asks Eric, who shrugs.
"I find it amusing."
"I don't," he gets up, steps into his jeans and leaves them half-zipped as he focuses on the vampire. "He's just a kid, still in school. Don't do this."
"Do what?"
"Whatever it is you're doing. Don't."
"Brian, Brian," Eric walks over to him and puts his arms around him. I feel a little jealous as Brian tenses in his embrace. "He's here to save you from the big bad vampire. Doesn't that warm your little heart?"
"No. And he's no vampire hunter. And I don't need saving from you."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure that if I did, I would save myself," he twists out of Eric's embrace and turns to me. "Go home, buttercup. This has nothing to do with you."
"He said he would turn you into a vampire if I didn't come."
Brian glares at Eric, who shrugs. "I might have said that."
"You did say that," I remind him. "Come home with me."
"Why would you say that, Eric?"
"I was feeling inclined in that direction. We could have some fun, you and me. You have a good vampire personality. Take no prisoners. Regret nothing. Try everything. Think of it, Brian, you'd never be thirty."
I can see that the vampire hit the nail on the head where Brian is concerned. His fear of being older. Of losing his looks. Forever young, forever beautiful, like the vampire. "Do you really want to live forever as a freak?" I glance at the vampire. "No offense."
"None taken."
"Eric's not a freak. All you know about vampires you learned from movies and Michael's comic books. It's not like that."
"No," Eric agrees. "It's much worse."
"Brian please come back with me."
He locks a gaze on me. "I'm not going back with you and I'm not becoming a vampire. Relax. Go home. I'm a big boy now. I don't need some twink riding in to rescue me. Got it?"
"Don't be so rude, Brian," Eric walks over to me and puts his hands on my shoulders from behind. He is like gigantic, even taller than Brian and when he stands close to me I can feel a bunch of weird emotions, including fear, but other stuff too. "I think he's very courageous to come here for you. It's sweet. And he's such a pretty little thing," he presses his nose to my hair and I shudder. "Type A-negative, somewhat unusual, very piquant. I like his spunk. I like him. He reminds me of Godric when we first met, sort of."
Brian walks over and pulls me away from the vampire. "He's not Godric. Or any other creature of the night. He's a high school student and a twink who is only now figuring out the whole queer thing. He's impulsive and crushing on me. This ends here. You and I have things to talk about. Justin needs to go home."
I pull free of him. "I'm not going without you."
"You see? Very brave."
"Very stupid," Brian says and I walk back to Eric and reach up to touch his handsome face. His skin is cool and as perfect as a marble statue. He doesn't pull back, doesn't lean forward.
"I want to paint you," I tell him. "You're so beautiful."
"I would like that. Capture me as I am today so I never forget."
"You never change," Brian reminds him and the vampire smiles.
"Subtle changes."
I run my hands down his neck and flatten them on his pec's. He is cut and as hard as that marble he is carved from. I understand why Brian is drawn to him. He's so hot. "What are you doing?" I hear Brian say and then the vampire laughs.
"Jealous?"
"Hardly."
"Do you fuck like regular men?" I ask Eric who smiles.
"Better. Ask Brian."
I glance at Brian who gives me the finger across the throat signaling me to stop. Eric steps back.
"Why don't I leave you two alone to have a little talk?" He pulls Brian into his arms before he goes. He kisses him hard on the mouth and Brian responds, flattening his hands on the vampire's ass. Hot, hot, hot. Jealous, but hot. Some naughty little part of me would love to watch them together, to see what role Brian assumes with Eric. But I also would feel really jealous of that, and I don't know which emotion is winning here. He whispers something to Brian and Brian smiles and then Eric leaves the room after giving me a little wink.
BRIAN'S POV:
I don't know what Eric is up to here, but it's not good. Bringing the twink here is a fucking nightmare. The kid barely gets what fucking is all about, let alone what vampires are like. I'm still learning that one myself. I sit on the bed and pat the mattress for him to sit beside me. He does. I glance at him and say, "Go home. I mean it. Nice gesture, I guess, despite how stupid and reckless it is, but go home. I'm fine. I'm not becoming a vampire. He's my client, we like each other, we like fucking each other, that's it. I don't know what his game is here, but go home."
"Not without you."
"Listen, you have no claims on me. You don't get to tell me what to do and who to do. I'll leave when I'm ready."
"Me too." he says with a stubborn tilt of his chin.
"School bell goes off on Monday. Your parents will have the FBI looking for you. Your picture will be on milk cartons. Use your brain. Go home."
"Brian, he told me he wants to turn you into a vampire."
"Eric is strange. He's moody. He's just fucking with you."
"Tell me that being forever young and beautiful is not a draw to you."
"Not just to me, to everyone. But the trade off is not great. Who wants to live forever? What a boring life that would be. I get bored after twenty-nine years of it. Just go. I'm telling you that you are not wanted here."
"He wants me, kind of."
"Yeah for a snack. This isn't Dark Shadows, Justin. He's not some romantic bullshit version of a vampire. He's a very scary man. Don't think he's not. I get him. We have an understanding. But you're just here to please his bizarre sense of humor."
"Who's Godric?"
"The one who turned him. His maker."
"He looks at me like he wants to fuck me when he says I remind him of Godric."
"So? Everyone wants to fuck a little blond twink like you. Big deal. Finish your lessons in human fuckology before you progress to creatures of the night. You still have a lot to learn."
"Brian, please come home with me." He switches to pleading. He won't get to me with those puppy dog eyes, though. This needs to stop. I stand up and motion to the door.
"Get out while you can still walk under your own power."
"Fuck you, then. You won't listen to me, you won't come with me, fuck you! You think you're so sophisticated and so smart. Well, you're not. He's out of your league too. If he kills you, I'm going to your loft and taking whatever I want!"
I smile at that. "Really? If I'm dead, what the fuck do I care?"
He storms out of the room, and I sit down on the bed, suddenly exhausted. I am so mad at Eric for involving the twink. No need for that and it's sort of cruel. I'll take it up with him after Justin is safely on his way and we're alone. I head for a warm shower, hoping that will give me some mental clarity.
ERIC'S POV:
The boy is coming down the stairs at a fast pace. I can read his anger in his expression. I block his path. He stops, stares at me. I stare back. "You're an asshole!" he says and I laugh and grab him by the arms and slam his back to the wall. I lean in and whisper,
"You don't know the half of it."
"You don't scare me!" He claims, but his eyes betray him.
"Then you're a fool," my fangs snap in place and I sink them in the soft, warm flesh of his throat and begin to suck his life's blood into my mouth.
