Have you considered passing the screenplay on to an editor or colleague that you respect professionally? I've seen too many good writers pass their work off to friends who don't offer the best of constructive criticism; "yeah, it's great, B!"
I haven't made any connections to other screenwriters, editors or writers who can offer that kind of constructive criticism. But I'm looking. I'm checking out screenwriting salons, signing up for lectures and generally seeing what's available here in Seattle.
And yes, it feels truly great. It's like parenting. Even if your child turns out to be a worthless member of society, the love and passion you put into creating it makes you proud, nonetheless.
