Pokefags

Holy fuck. I've been the biggest Pokemon loser ever since I started replaying Gold on my GameBoy.  Since then, I've purchased HeartGold and have been playing it nonstop, stop for most threads on /v/ about Pokemon (although it pretty fucking impossible to stop for everyone since there's 10 on page 0 every second), and most recently started reading ( Read more... )

I dunno man. I was playing through SoulSilver, beat the Elite Four, and now it's like "Kay, I have the metagame here, but I've already got everything over in Pearl. So why get it all again", you know? What's more, I beat the game ten years ago, and not much has changed aside from the graphics and the number of pokemon available.

I like the pokewalker and the safari zone, but I dunno, I feel kind of bored. :\

You can't possibly tell me that Gold has no replay value, Broudini. I'll say this, they did make HeartGold and SoulSilver with the intent of people trading over Pokemon from the last gen games, considering there are a large amount that you just cannot catch, and that does bother me a little since I never played a Pokemon game since the original Gold and Silver. However, I do not think it takes away from the game. The game does differ from it's original graphically and by number of total Pokemon, but it also takes on the newer games' system of stats and abilities of Pokemon, which greatly differ it in the end.

I'll say this, I very much dislike how much importance they try to impose upon your character, saying that he's pretty much "the one" since the beginning. I much rather being a nobody who makes it to the top.

But at the same time I'm defending this game, I agree with you, it's pretty much the same thing, but that's what most anniversary edition remakes are, so it should have been obvious what you were getting into.

It's not Gold specifically, but rather the franchise as a whole. I have all 493 pokes in Pearl, I've raised everything I wanted to raise (I have three boxes of IV'd, EV'd pokes), and really there's no reason for me to keep playing the metagame.

Well, being 'the one' is part of a lot of Nintendo games, innit? That stopped bothering me a while ago.

I suppose, but for some reason I expected it to be more interesting. I feel like there's an element missing that I can't put my finger on. Maybe it's just the fact that I already played Gold/Silver, and I've already done it all before. Maybe just a creative element? Like I said, safari zone and pokewalker are great, but everything else feels repetitive.
