Yay! I know how you feel. I was in the same spot for a long time the DSL service area ended two houses down. I was surprised to read recently that MOST americans are still on dial-up.

For $35.00 a month total it can't be beat!!!! I'm even thinking of getting the VOIP phone and getting rid of my landline!
