Bush has made it very very difficult for young, new researchers to get a start. There isn't enough NIH funding due to cuts. The money available went to more established researchers. I'll send you the article in Nature from last year about it.

Like I said yesterday to a friend, I'm really hoping for a generation of scientists out of this deal. So much damage has been done with this ridiculous discussion of evolution vs "intelligent design". In fucking 2008!!!! Anyway, I'm really hoping for a major push for science. I am also heartened because they mention the arts on this website. Please, please, please let this be two terms to repair all the damage of the last 8 years!

One more problem with our country in part thanks to Bush. I do not envy Obama's gianormous task ahead of him. I wonder if you have to be a little bit crazy to be the president of this country at this time.
