Prop 8 protests, nationwide.

I'm on board with the idea of this, but I think the location is severely misguided. City Hall in Raleigh? The Raleigh mayor and city council are both progressive (the council is predominately Democratic, and the mayor is), and the city has a non-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation. I think a FAR better place is at the Capitol ( Read more... )

I'm thinking a more fitting location would be the black churches. It was their voting block that pushed Prop 8 over the top.

I think most people are laying the blame with the Mormons at this point, financially-speaking.

But not the black churches here...

The mormon temple in Apex is a better location because it is more tightly affliated with the major funders of yes on 8

How about the LDS temple in Apex? Enough people can block the major 2 lane street "drag" in Apex... I'd say that would cause a major pain for all the people there.

I'd be there.

I had no idea what the hell that was until I googled it. Man, I didn't know anything about Mormons until I saw "Religulous". What a bunch of nutjobs.

I think it's ultimately headed to the Supreme Court, don't you? Let's just hope by the time it gets there, Obama has had a chance to make some appointments!

Is this something you are going to participate in brianrdu? This protest idea interests me. I'd like to find out more information on the local protest, though. Their website says, "Raleigh - I can’t get google to pull up a link for this so here’s the address: 1 E Morgan St, Raleigh, N Carolina."

I'd like to get some idea of how many people plan on protesting, if possible.

You can just call me Brian. Um, I dunno. I've been blabbing about it to see if anybody gets stirred up, but can't tell. What I do know, though, is things like this should have permits, otherwise the popo comes and clubs people.

It doesn't have a permit? Okay, yeah.. I'm definitely out, then. I don't want a policeman to trounce on me, at least not under those circumstances.
