Having just finished the old school D&D campaign from last month, we're moving back to super heroes for May with my analysis of how to make super-hero games feel like the presentation of super-heroes in the movies.
Oddly enough, one of my campaign proposals for my next cycle is a superhero series based on the film of The Avengers. But I'm taking away a slightly different moral: The heroes can all have different origins, but they will in the process delimit the full range of origins for the universe, and all the threats will grow out of whatever fantastic elements their origins introduce. That is, I'm looking at a massive exercise in player participation in worldbuilding. That worked really well when I did it for fantasy a while ago. . . .
