You were not too incoherent to express your disapproval about this! I especially agree with you on two points: if you're going to mock, do it privately; and it will take something like an act of God to make canonical Klaus go for Dorian. (I love Klaus/Dorian. I've even written some. But even in my own head I've never been able to come up with a realistic scenario for them to be together. It's one of my issues with Eroica fic in general.)

I'm constantly horrified by the public mocking I see on the internet in fandom. It's not that I don't see the urge to make fun of things that come off as utterly ridiculous. It happens all the time. It's that little urge to laugh whenever someone falls on their ass in front of you, for that split second before you ask if they're okay. I just don't think that saying mockery is a part of life excuses the kind of behavior displayed by the community to this particular author.
As for Klaus/Dorian... Amen! I love this fandom because there are so many fics out there where I can lose myself in the story as written and find that Klaus/Dorian pairing plausible. However, never once do I lose sight of the fact that canon Klaus hates gays.
Anyway, I talk too much. Thanks again for saying I wasn't completely out there with my reaction.

As an indirect answer to that question, I say you should come stay on Wednesday and drive my drunk ass to Hornell and back. (Though I shouldn't be drunk on my way there, just on the way back, to be more precise.) Then I could ride in your car! And also not worry about being pulled over. XD
