I really love this story. There's a ton of IC going on here, and I love that you've got Will and Dan so closely bonded with one another. I've read a few 3:10 fics where Will's some sort of brat that's more of a burden to Dan than anything else, and, while I see where the basis comes from, it's nice to see Will as the mature adult he has the potential to be. Also, the fact that Will stayed with Dan rather than going with Alice was a good touch on your part. I could not, ever-ever-ever, imagine Will leaving the freedom of the W(w?)est to move to the north. Like you've pointed out, he's too much like Wade to actually enjoy the confines of city life and its more strictly enforced laws

Thanks so much for your detailed feedback on this story. I really appreciate your point of view. I agree that William gets the short straw in the fandom, undoubtedly because he's so rebellious and negative toward his father throughout much of the movie. I love how he comes around at the end, though, and I'm also fascinated by the possibilities in his relationship with Ben.

I believe if Dan *had* survived, we would have seen a real change in his relationship with William, which is what we see in 'Stubborn.'

When I listened to the director's commentary of '3:10 to Yuma,' he mentioned that at the end of the story, two characters are changed forever: William and Ben. Neither one will go back to being what he was at the start. I really see that. I've enjoyed playing with William's future in a couple other stories I've written, and I have more yet to explore . . .
