Some weeks, we don't raid at all because people are busy or have other things planned on the designated raid night.

I giggled at that line. It's amusing enough to think there is a "designated raid night", but more amusing to think that big, tough, guys won't go on a raid because they have other things to do, like, perhaps, drink tea with their grandmother. ;-)

I know: not everyone is a "big, tough, guy"; allow me to indulge my mental fantasy for a moment.

I do agree that having a commitment one night a week instead of several nights does make it more likely that you are willing to participate on a regular basis.

ah guild implosions. Ours imploded in rather spectacular fashion, the least dramatic reason being that the officers were unable to put in the time to manage the dramatic reasons because of various real life things. (one couple were in the process of buying a home. Another officer was beginning to get busy with grad school. I got pregnant and Robin had to do all the cooking cause I couldn't stand the sight of food.)

I really miss WoW these days. But I can't see us going back even after the expansion comes out, as we just don't have the time to put into the game to find the perfect group of 10 who would mesh with our kid centric schedule.

Heh, we have parents with newborns in our 10-man group. It does get tough on boss fights sometimes with the /afkdiaperchg, /afkfeedingtime, /afkscreaminganddon'tknowwhy, but I hear you'll be fine to play again after the kid and you start sleeping through the night. =)

well, that's the funny thing... we dropped it while I was pregnant, started again when he was 3 or 4 months old, and then dropped it again when he was 7 or 8 months old, and actually sleeping through the night. He's almost 2 now, and goes to bed reliably at 7:30 ( ... )
