Muscovy Duck for Dinner!

Dec 30, 2023 16:22

Muscovy Ducks are different! Unlike other Ducks, most (especially the males) don't fly, don't quack, and don't require a pond! Some, especially the females, often perch in trees! Some people believe they're a cross between Woodducks and Geese, while others say they're not really ducks but their own type of waterfowl.

What we do know is that they have Red Meat, and the breast provides a steak that rivals top sirloin steak! The Historic Foodie's Blog says, "Muscovy meat is thinner-skinned, less fat, and deep red, often compared to beef in flavor and tender."

It's not only been used since Historic Times it's also found it's way on to restaurant menus. Restaurants like Wasabi's Bistro - Seafood Restaurant in Homer, Alaska. Even Fine Dining Restaurants like Toronto's Don Alfonso have Muscovy à la carte. Nearer Home, in Nova Scotia at least, Muscovy Duck Breast can be found on the Catering Menu - Membertou Trade & Convention Centre.

It also makes great Duck Confit! Read what one of our Customers has to say!
