Somehow I have managed to escape the seductive forces of technology and consumerism in one respect -- I have not owned a computer since 2004.  This was a fact of which I was quite proud.  But in the end, it seems, resistance is futile ( Read more... )

Just think of it as another tool that you use to accomplish daily tasks...they're not inherently evil, it's the intention behind their use.

Besides, for $249?! That is a screamin' deal!

What she said! (That is a *really* good deal.) Also also: there are very, very many cool things that you can do now! Like organizing your bookmarks in one place! Or aggregating news feeds! Or having constant weather updates! (Which, when you don't have a TV and live in New England, is kinda handy.) Or having your thumb on the pulse of current events! Youtube! Twitter! Personalized recommendations from Amazon! (You've been resisting; I've been crowd-surfing.) ;P
