Welcome to the fold - this was quite an introduction. Glad you did so much more with this than they did, as the fact this wasn't even addressed in the two-part finale - and probably couldn't have been since I think GI Jeff was made after the finale was filmed - makes it even more obvious, wasteful and stupid that this was made up as nothing but a way to kill time for an 80's cartoon parody. And to retcon Jeff's age again. And to make Jeff's character development go backwards - i.e. going back for no reason at all other than that there's no booze or boobs in cartoon world - so it could go backwards even further in the finale.

On that note, this really does have a different feel in the light of the two-part finale -- since it would make Jeff's behavior in 512 and the first two-thirds of 513 even uglier. Maybe you should write a redo of that as a sequel while you're at it. Or write one for any other reason you want to.

Hey thanks for reading and commenting. I agree that GI Jeff was mostly a waste of time; I know it's Dan's show, but I have never loved the episodes that feature animation of any type. As funny as they can be (Digital Estate Planning) I really watch the show to see the actual, you know, actors delivering lines and seeing them interact with one another. Dan even said that this could end up being a huge mistake and I think that he doesn't have much room to fuck around when he only has 13 episodes. Every one has to count and this was such a wasted opportunity ( ... )

This is really good :D
I like to imagine that awesome fics like this happen offscreen in canon. The resolution of G.I. Jeff was definitely lacking and it's like you helped to make up for it.

You write soulmate-esque fluff really well. Annie was perfect. I loved how the nurse and Abed acted as the guides for Jeff. I thought that it would've taken Jeff a bit longer to break through his outer, jaded shell, but it was cool to see him finally open up to Annie.

Because they had this tender moment but haven't made into anything truly romantic yet, this would make a really good first chapter of a longer fic.
If you write that, I'd love to read it
Stay awesome
