What your protagonist went through is absolutely appalling, unconscionable, almost unimaginable, but something people, kids, have actually gone through similar attacks. They are attacks. You describe her experience wonderfully well. The glory of first love, the absolute devastation of horrendous betrayal.
The earlier part of this story was just heartbreak, and I couldn't help wondering if the poor narrator's friends at the diner weren't her friends either. :( Ugh-- it takes a special kind of cruelty to deliberately sucker someone in and betray them like that. Not deserving of this kind of punishment, but... you kind of have to admire this girl for her guts, after being beaten down so low.
I actually hadn't thought about whether her friends at the diner were really her friends or not. I think I should have given that more thought. Thank you so much!
