Life...

About the pst few weeks... I'm sorry I've been so horrible about writing you all, or calling, or dropping by, or whatever. I've been busy. Very busy.

The most significant event, I suppose, was a long ordeal between Summer, Jana, and myself. It all began with one of Jana's visits to Summer's place last month, when I was still in Salem. One thing led to another, etc. etc., And at this point we're lovers. There's no more of that silly pussy-footing around the topic, for which I am eternally grateful. No more Chelsea calling her my girlfriend while I sigh bemusedly and say "oh, come on, it's not like that." At this point she's a permanent part of my life, and I can barely wrap my mind around that! I can't even call her a girlfriend, she's so much more... I guess Jana said it best when she said "...Summer's completely destroyed and reinvented your entire concept of love." Sorry if I'm making any of you ill with my twitterpated ramblings... I'm smitten.

Second most significant event: I've got a job. My job is to film lawyers examining witnesses so the witness doesn't have to appear in court. There's all sorts of reasons why that would be necessary... Distance, danger to the witness, outright laziness, experts in the field not wanting to leave their jobs... All in all its enjoyable work. I don't just run the camera, I direct the whole scene, when it's done I do all the tech-work necessary to produce a usable-in-court product. Sometimes I even go to the courtroom and run the video equipment.

Along the topic of jobs, by the way, I've actually got two of them now. While my weekdays are spent in law offices around the greater D.C. area, my weekends are spend building houses. See, raw frames in the area sell for tens of thousands each, but finished houses sell for hundreds of thousands. Joe, the guy I'm staying with, has all the necessary expertise to build houses from scratch... I know, I'm living in one he's built. So we've banded together in a little venture business to but raw materials and sell finished goods. He's got the labor, and I make the money to fund the projects, and we split profits 50/50. The whole thing may yet fall through the cracks, it's all to early to tell... But from the progress we've made in only a month's time, I'd say chances are good that I may end up quitting this videography thing entirely and focus entirely on managing a staff of peons. Hell, I may just do it purely for the novelty of being a corporate CEO before it's legal for me to drink. It's more complicated than I'm letting on, of course... There's legal crap to keep in mind, (taxation is really tricky in real estate) labor laws to hold to, and various other little points I'll just have to deal with as they arise. Regardless of the somewhat daunting amount of work that's yet to be done on this venture, it's still something I look forward to doing. I'm having a lot of fun already, and I'd love to see where this career path could take me in the future.

My new roommates, Cass and Joe, (and their daughters) are an interesting pair. Like any couple in my family, the woman is an unpredictable domineering bitch, who deep down really cares about the world in general. Joe is a quiet geeky spineless guy who takes her crap like a slave when she's mad, and cares about the world right along with her when she's happy. So I suppose I'm really enjoying my stay, no matter how difficult it is to please these people. It's refreshing to get as much done as they expect of me, but difficult to deal with seven day work weeks and ten hour work days. Everything's a trade-off I guess. And I can't say I'm not getting a whole hell of a lot out of the deal.

Looks like time to start driving to my next job... Today's is close, which is why I've had time to update. Wish me luck! Talk to you all soon!
