Movie: Primer

Primer

This was a wonderful, confusing, bizarre indy film that was actually shot in Dallas (I think I recognized the U-haul location where the main characters build their boxes). I was amazed at how realistic their fake tech talk sounded... it was obviously written by someone who has a solid grounding in electronics.

This one is a genuine Mind F**k. You will most likely need to watch the ending at least twice to figure out exactly what the heck happened. But it is a wonderfully unique approach to time travel (a sci-fi subgenre that I usually don't care too much for).

I genuinely enjoyed the performances of the completely unknown cast. The direction was wonderful and the way the plot snarls itself out at the end was quite satisfying (especially after we rewatched it). Also, this movie totally proves that you DO NOT need millions of dollars worth of special FX to to make an exceptional and compelling sci-fi story.

My Rating: 9 of 10, Highly Recommended, but be prepared to have your brain hurt.
