I was furiously brainstorming for this and Rory looked over and asked, "So why are you doing this?"

To which I could only say, "It seemed like a good idea when I started." I'm trying really hard to remember why I thought this was relevant to anything.

Boromir was prone to extreme pride and an inclination to use the Ring despite the consequences. This is part "Ring corrupts everybody who looks at it" and part "Boromir is susceptible due to the aforementioned pride." In the end he tried to take the Ring by force. Points for immediate regret, but for a long time the only limiting factor on him was other people's orders and opinions ( ... )

(on a side note, FUCK you SONS OF BITCHES who think that you get some kind of Gold Watch o' Romance for sufficient years of service; fuck your jealousy, fuck your bitterness, fuck the fact that you're never strong enough to make yourself useful elsewhere, not while you maintain a dream of a delusion of a chance. Fuck the notion that "no" means "someday" and "kindness" means "a promise." Fuck the face of selfless love when it's used to cover sheer selfish desire.
