yeah, that was. i like how he regards religion as something highly personal. and i like how intellectual he sounds about what he's doing too. he's a smart guy. very post-modern, i think, what with all of this focus on the idea that then manifests itself however it may. there is no single meaning or purpose.
i could see that whole thing with the prodding about gay marriage coming, just in general, thinking about who some of his listeners may be, especially here in california (and santa cruz!), and how they might like his music but feel slightly uncomfortable about all of his christian references. so they would want to know -- is he right or left? who cares? he's clearly a critical thinker who analyzes himself and what's outside of himself from all angles; i respect that regardless of whether i agree with him on some given issue.
