[The Pokegear cuts on to Hermione wrapped up in a blanket, a cup of hot cocoa in her hand. Her eyes flicker to the snuggled up Eevee in her lap, then back to the Pokegear.]Athena and I were out training today, which was foolish of me, I must say, but...I got to thinking. I learned not long ago that Eevees can evolve into five different forms. Does ( Read more... )

Curious, isn't it? Of all the pokemon species, it appears Eevee is the only one capable of so many forms.

[Tom taps the book he's reading] That trait is what makes them so coveted amongst the trainers.

It really is quite fascinating! I can't help but wonder what makes that so.

[She nods.] Yes, I can imagine. I was very fortunate to receive one when I arrived here.

I hear there are Professors of pokemon in the area; A visit to these experts would be beneficial, as I'm certain you have as many questions as I have.

Undoubtedly, having the choice of five forms is a considerable advantage. However...[Tom runs a hand lightly down Salazar's spine as the pokemon hisses in his ear] I am content with the pokemon I first received. Perhaps if we ever come across an Eevee in our travels, I will capture it.

Oh really? Hmm, I might have to visit them. I would be quite wonderful to speak to someone knowledgeable in this area.

Salazar is a very....nice Pokemon. [But Snakes aren't her thing. Sorry, she's totally got Gryffindor blood.] You definitely should! Athena has been a wonderful Pokemon.

You need the evolutionary stones in order to evolve Eevee! If I remember correctly, back when I played the games, they had three forms: fire, water, and thunder.

A fire stone makes it evolve into a Flareon!
A thunderstone makes it evolve into a Jolteon!
And a water stone makes it evolve into a Vaporeon.

And during the day - if you make it happy enough, it evolves into Espeon. And during the night, it evolves into Umbreon.

Aaaah, I wish I had my own Eevee!

The game? Oh, yes, that's right. Someone mentioned that it's one in some worlds.

Thank you very much for the information! The hard part will be deciding between all the choices.

Athena's been a wonderful Pokemon. I was very lucky to start with her. What Pokemon do you have?

That's why you breed them! Oh, right -- I have a Dratini, Psyduck, Hoothoot, and a Ditto!

Breed them? Yes, of course! Though, I'm not sure if I want quite so many. How can I learn about all the other Pokémon?

I see. That seems like a good team you have.

I didn't realize they could evolve into that many forms. My Eevee, Kamui-- well, he doesn't seem like he wants to evolve anytime soon.

I didn't realize it at first, either. You have an Eevee as well?

Honestly, I don't plan on letting Athena evolve anytime soon. She doesn't seem to want to, and besides, I'm content with how she is now. I was just curious for the future.

He hatched from my Christmas egg. Maybe he'll want to in the future, but...

At least he has a lot to choose from.

I got mine as my starter. She's been a very reliable Pokémon, though I must admit, it is rather exciting, the thought of getting a choice when it's time for her to evolve.

How many definitions does 'evolve' have?

[Because Youji is no scientist but he has vague ideas about 'gradual' and 'over millions of years' and 'not really so specialized.']

Sorry for the know-it-all rambles. >.> brightlilwitch January 23 2011, 00:29:22 UTC
What do you mean by that? If you're speaking of how Pokémon evolve, I think the fitting definition for this type of evolution would be 'a process of evolution to a different adaptive state or condition.' It's a very sudden process. None of mine have evolved yet myself, but a companion of mine has had one. It seems that when they reach a certain point in their training, they change shape and form, becoming a more powerful being.

nono, I'm sorry for the amazing late. slantedcross January 30 2011, 09:18:45 UTC
Sounds more like a metamorphosis than evolution. Not to mention patently ridiculous, but I'm probably well behind the curve if I'm still thinking that, hm?

You're an uncommonly bright girl, aren't you? It's very kind of you to indulge my ignorance.

It's cool~ xD brightlilwitch February 1 2011, 03:37:11 UTC
I believe you have a point there. It is rather like a metamorphosis, isn't it? How did I miss that? [Guess who's going to be looking more into metamorphosis now?]

You're quite welcome, sir. It's always a pleasure to discuss such topics.
