What a tender and sweet fic, and a wonderful Sam POV!
I loved Sam being scared about Mary getting to know him, and I do wonder if Lucifer will use Mary as bait to get Sam to say yes (or maybe Mary could be a vessel, she is a Winchester!!)
I'd love for Mary to learn more about her sons and what they've been through, as well as Mary talking about the deal she made.
A beautiful fic and thank you for sharing it with us. Take care :)
SAMMY .... When I started the fic, I had no idea whose POV I'd write it from, and it just instantly became clear it had to be Sam. <3
I could totally see the bait thing. :-[] Lucifer and Mary in the same season, you figure it's gotta dovetail sometime. (I like the vessel idea! That could be cool.)
I'm eager for them to get to talking about the deal she made. It's time they worked that out. It's gonna be rough, but necessary. <3
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for reading and commenting!
Omg, I am with you on loving Season 12. I literally gave up on the show partway through S9, but I watched a bit of S11 and now things seem better than they've been in YEARS. Like, they're actually putting effort into making each episode sort of different and original, like they were for the first half decade or so???
This fic is exactly what I desperately want in canon - ALL THE TALKING with Mary and the boys. <333
S11 was pretty good, but YES, I agree, now with S12, it's better than it's been in years! I just wasn't a fan of what Carver did with it, but I've always liked Dabb. Huzzah!
IT'S WHAT I WANT, TOO. I hope they get around to having them talk about all the things ....
And like the point is something other than just getting ratings! I know Carver got the ratings (by SPN's standards, anyway), but it never felt like he quite got the show or enjoyed being in charge of it. I had high hopes for his exit, frankly, and so far they're (mostly) being rewarded!
I love Sam's sense here of not only being not this baby Mary left behind, but being inescapably afraid that she'll be disappointed in him--in him himself and the life he's led, since surely that's not anything a parent would want for their child. I think he and Dean both have that sense, and this fic sets up such a great scenario to begin to open that up. Because they wouldn't have gone through that history with her--they don't even roll it out, even in small innocuous chunks, for people who aren't their mother

YES. I felt like 12.6 FINALLY touched on giving us a little of that outsider POV of all Sam and Dean have accomplished, a TEENY bit of the recognition they deserve, but STILL NOT ENOUGH, so I wanted to flesh that out more in a fic. Show has been going on so long now, and the Winchesters' accomplishments are so incredible and storied--at least for fans--it only makes sense that they would be beginning to become so among hunters and anyone in the know, too, and I am SO THERE FOR THAT. I would love to see Show get WAY more into that.
(from the reader's perspective--I imagine from Sam's it was a low-key version leading up to a much worse session of more of the same)Lol--yes, this is exactly what I imagined, too. It was also fun as a writer to cast Lucifer as a kind of inadvertent good guy, opening up lines of communication within the Winchester family, telling secrets that needed to come out ... and honestly, I think on a certain level Lucifer even meant it that way. He knows Sam, and all the Winchesters, knows what they need, and
