Yes! I adore this anime too! I've been watching it for a few years now, and I have the manga too (got the latest on pre order).

It's a gorgeous slice of life. I still want to know so much more about his grandmother, Reiko.

I haven't seen all the fifth season yet (I think just the first two) but I did love the change in colour. The manga, as I said, is ongoing, to it might end up like Fruits Basket (the first one I really fell in love with) where they end up taking the anime in their own direction. *ponders*

so glad to see someone else who loves it!

I've been very curious--how does the manga compare to the series? I just found a few pages of it online and read them, and from that little sample, it seemed like Natsume wasn't nearly as retiring and gentle as in the series, but maybe I just didn't read enough to be able to tell.

There's so much I'm desperate to know more about, too!

where they end up taking the anime in their own direction.

This was a thought I had as to why they haven't moved forward in some of the directions it seemed like they intended to, that maybe the manga hasn't gone there yet (it sounds like that's the case?), so they were hesitant to do it. But a show and a manga often each take on a different life, so if it's the case, I hope they do take it in their own direction. (And yay, Fruits Basket!)

So glad to hear you love it, too! <3

One more anime we both love, yay! \o/ I love Natsume so much. It has made me cry so many times as well as laugh, and though there are some uneven or less interesting episodes, there's just so much to love, and so many interesting things to see :)

I really wish they would do more, since season five kind of ended unsatisfyingly :/ But I'm so happy we share this anime too ^_^

Aw, man, I cry almost every episode! Which is hard, because I watch it with my macho male friend who gets awkward about emotion, so I have to kind of try to hide it, but IT'S SO WORTH IT.

I'm so happy we share this one, too! <3 <3

I, too, love this show so much, and getting to share it with you is awesome. But Natsume's childhood angst is where the money is and we need about 1,000 times more of that. :-) I would want them to make it forever if we got that.

But the mid-level youkai, BL. And you forgot that Natsume got a COLD.

I WOULD WANT THEM TO MAKE IT FOREVER, TOOOOO. Since it's a slice-of-life show, there's literally no limit to the number of episodes and characters and ideas they could explore.

They do love it when Natsume gets a cold! That's become sort of their go-to light angsty thing. I ain't gonna complain about any time they bring the angst. ;-)

i watched a couple of episodes of it at my friend's house once. i wanted to continue, but since we were watching so many different anime's that day she couldn't remember the name.

where do you get your anime? i used to have a crunchy roll account, but i cut out every little thing that i wasn't using all the time to cut down my expenses.

I'm fortunate to have a friend who has a massive anime collection, so we go over to his house every week for anime night. And yes, we watch that one on Crunchyroll (he has an account)! I've also been able to find a few shows on myanimelist . net. I don't have an account either place, but I've been able to watch some stuff for free in both. Netflix used to have a few series, but I'm not sure if they do anymore (and they may all be English dubs). Hope this helps.

i was very fortunate for two years to live with two people that ALSO loved anime, and we watched at least something at least every night and went to Otakon in 2011.

netflix has taken SO many anime off, and they're always dubbed (which i hate... unless it's Cowboy Bebop).

i might as well go back to chrunchy roll and get a premium account again, since i really miss watching anime.

Yeah, you get the occasional dubbed anime that's as good or, in rare cases (such as, imo, Princess Tutu and Kodocha, and yes, Cowboy Bebop!) that actually better dubbed than in the original, but most of them ... argh. My anime buddy prefers an English dub far more often than I do (we're currently watching a dub of Gundam Unicorn, and I'm really wishing we could watch the original), and sometimes it's hard to bring it up.
