I didn't think my entry was that funny, but I was the runner up in Baseball Prospectus's contest to come up with a new slogan for the Angels.

According to Google Translate, it comes out as:
The Rates of the Rats of Anaheim

This makes no sense to me either.

No, The rats of the The rats of Anaheim is exactly correct.

About 12 years ago the Angels (the known as the California Angels) signed a deal with the city of Anaheim, where the city would pay for renovations of their stadium and in exchange the team would rebrand themselves to have Anaheim in their name. 2 or 3 years ago the team decided that in order to increase their TV ratings they wanted to have the name Los Angeles Angels. The city claimed that this was a violation of their contract, and so the team changed their name to The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Which in Spanish is Los Angeles de Los Angeles de Anaheim.

My name wasn't all that clever, but was making fun of that.

OH! OK...hee! It's much funnier now that I know the real Spanish (and not just my guessing) and the history of the team.
