We're planning to come up sometime soon to watch that last House episode (if you still have it), but we have to wrap up some car/work things first. And if you don't still have it, we will probably still come visit you. ::grin::

::grins:: Nice to know that avoiding the word "bad" is carrying on! I hope you too someday have the fun of having kindergarden teachers look at you like you're crazy when you try and explain that your five year old will respond better to being told something is "unexceptable behavior" than being told something is "bad".

Children are perfectly capable of understanding and using interesting words that have a clear meaning. There is no reason to talk down to them when it is far more fun to fill their minds with thoughts and concepts that have meat to them!

Bad is a bad word. *slow nod*

Especially with babies! Not only does it keep you from teaching more specific words, but "bad" can span from "messy" to "immoral" to "dangerous". And I'd generally prefer that Sylvia understand the difference between "I don't want you to play in the dog water because it's messy" and "I don't want you to climb the stairs because it's dangerous."

If she's going to do something "bad", I'll take messy over dangerous any day.
