I don't know anything about excel, but when I get messages like that for anything I'm doing, say for PSP, I'll stick the whole phrase into Google. I may also add in "What does this mean..."

Yeah, I did that and learned that the last message (about AutoRecover) was an indication that everything was about to crash. Eeep!

Were there formulas in the original document? Even some that didn't have numbers calculated in them? I would try re-copying the data from the original document and when you paste it in the new document paste them as Values.

The weird part is that there were no formulas. However, I got a tip from another friend to select all and then "convert" the cells to text just in case. Apparently, sometimes the dash in a phone number can be interpreted as minus sign.

Good idea about cutting and pasting. That way we start fresh.

I'm having my own Excel nightmare today. Ugghhh. Fortunately we're having a party at 2 so I can pretend it doesn't exist for awhile. :)
