tonight we went to go see Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds play at the Fonda theater, something that was livestreamed on youtube and a friend said you could clearly see us (it's a relatively small theater, general admission, we were near the stage) which is pretty cool. We saw Grinderman (which is pretty much what the Bad Seeds are now, with Mick Harvey gone) a few years ago, and it was really good. Cave is a consummate pro - can you imagine that being the consensus 25 years ago? Ha!

I actually like the dorkiness of the lyrics on the new album. Hey, everybody uses Wikipedia, why not say so?

i missed the grinderman show, i think i had just moved and wasn't up for the show that night or something (also i hadn't heard the album yet and didn't want to go into the show blind)

Oh Children was in Harry Potter, and originally in Abbattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus. An overlooked album, but I liked it.

oh wow i totally forgot that. yeah that album came out when i was living in england and i never really gave it much of a chance after the first 3 songs. i should go back and relisten

Glad to hear it was so good. Grinderman were similarly on fire when I saw them here, it sounds like that energy has carried over! My brother is part of the underground show recording trading scene, I might see if I can get a copy of this show from him. I'll let you know if I do.
