Eh, it's no more pointless than what happens at sports arenas, for example (or any other big celebration... ) but yes, I do agree that it would be better if it were more effectively cordoned off, instead of blowing into town every so often, and leaving others to cope with the shortfall afterwards.

In other words, have special places BE special - don't transfer glitz and glamour onto somewhere for a short period of time, only to leave it scrabbling in the dust when you depart.
