I saw a commercial tonight for a blood sugar medicine called Avandia. This commercial contained the following sentence.

"Talk to your doctor if you have heart failure or liver problems."

*rolls eyes*

The reason I have to get tapped for blood so much is to check the effect of my meds on my liver enzymes.

However, I think that warning is mostly for people that are big boozers... i.e., liver abuse ;)

Well, I more mean...if you have heart failure? I would hope that if anyone had heart failure, they would talk to their doctor, whether the commercial told them to or not. It's like printing a warning on a cup of ocffee that says it's hot.

True... but most people on blood sugar drugs are overweight, and being extremely obese can give you heart problems as a byproduct. Those aren't conditions that you want to make worse... yet I think there are very few sugar meds out there that *don't* come with that exact disclaimer. Those are the kind of people that do drastic stuff like gastric bypass.

Luckily for me, I have none of the "accompanying" problems, like high blood pressure, nor do I need nor want bariatric surgery. However, I do think I have mild sleep apnea, but I think that's more a result of the *position* I sleep in (almost completely on my face), rather than because of my weight. They say you can't lose weight if you're not sleeping well, and it's silly that I sleep through the night but never feel rested. I have no idea how I'd get tested for that without spending buku bucks, though. *sigh*

Nor do I have a desire to wear one of those positive air pressure contraptions while I sleep, either. Knowing my luck, I'd get tangled in the hoses and strangle myself :P

*ring ring ring*
Doctor: Hello?
Avandia User: Hey! What's up? Anyway, I'm calling about my heart - it seems to have failed.
Doctor: Failed?
Avandia User: Yep. It's no longer pumping blood. Been still as a rock for about an hour now. Apparently I'm also a vampire.

Heart Failure doesn't happen all at once. It usually takes place over time and is the result of the muscles around the heart getting progressively weaker. Some of the warning signs are... 1) Shortness of breath, 2) Fatigue, and 3) Loss of energy. What you're talking about is a heart attack (or vampirism; as you've stated). lol. I watch too much Learning Channel.
