I declined my contract a couple of weeks ago. I will not be teaching again next year. Instead, I will be embarking on my search for the right Ph.D. program, and we will see where that takes me. I'm happy for you being out of that environment. Job security is nice, but if it's taking away from your mental health then it's time to move on. I don't think I'll have to worry for you, you've always been pretty damn unstoppable so I know you are going to be all right. You don't do walls, you break through them. You've always done this, even when it was hard and you were unhappy and could have easily given up. Anyone can learn to swim. People drown because they panic, they think they can't swim and so they don't. They struggle against the water, trying to get their arms and legs out of it, when all you need to do is keep in the watter and those same struggling movements will keep you afloat.
