Vet's opinion seems to be that Capri's death was a stroke/heart issue--as most people assumed it was.  Molly, her pasture buddy and fellow Red QH Mare is still...unsettled.  They moved her into Capri's stall so she could be next to Shiloh, and she seems to have latched onto the old girl.  Not only are they now turnout buddies (along with Shiloh's ( Read more... )

Ugh, some horses get so demon possessed when a crop comes within eight feet of them. Cracker is one of them. I learned it was just easier to use spurs with her than a crop.

Congrats on not freezing though!

I guess that George was originally afraid of the crop when they first got him (possibly related to why he believes counter canter is the devil--someone thwacked him good for getting the wrong lead maybe?) but he'd long since gotten over it. Until, I guess, it was convenient for him not to. /facepalm

I once knew an Arabian mare who would charge you if you had a crop. Once you dropped it she trampled it like it was a snake. I don't even want to guess what was done to her. :(

Your horse and my horse can NEVER meet. They will plot and conspire together. They might actually BE the same horse. I picked up a dressage whip to tap him on the ass (mostly to remind him he had one, and USE IT) and you would have thought i set the arena on fire.

But we love the OTTBs. we LOVE them. we do. i swear. i think.
