October: Week 1 Topic Post!

Sep 28, 2009 23:04

The vote is out, and the people have spoken! ;-) We will be posting the week 1 topic a little early. This is a themed month- the theme is "body parts". As a compromise with the people who did want us to wait, I decided it'd be best to post it after the week 4 deadline from the previous week.

This is a tough topic, but you'll have plenty of extra time, and I think that if you're willing to rise to the challenge, there's a lot of potential in this one. For some reason, this is my favorite topic in a long, long time.

*** New Members: If you're competing for October, this is your first topic- link your entry in the poll below to have it counted in the competition! Also- if you haven't signed up for the competition please make sure you do! Check out the Main Contest Rules for info and rules on the main contest! ***

--- Please remember to submit your entry link in the poll below! ---

Your topic for October, Week 1 is....

Instep

There is something potent and underestimated about the arch of an instep. On a woman, it can be one of the most intimate and undeniably feminine places- the gentle, strong instep of a woman's foot. It's the essence of a ballerina's poise, the strong feminine curve of a high-heel clad foot, and the connection of a country girl to the land she loves.

It's no surprise that women were oppressed in some civilizations through foot binding. The instep of the foot is a strong, sure, powerful tool. For a martial artist, the instep is even a powerful weapon.

For a lover, the instep is a sensitive, intimate, deep place. To touch the instep-- to hold it one hand-- is a sign of caring, of closeness. In its way, it's is a deep, symbolic touch that often comes last, even after making love. It says "I am with you. I'd like to get to know all of you, even that which is not exceptional."

Bring life to this topic, and see where its travels take you. All the best to everyone this month!

Poll Contest Entries, Week 1, October

Two Icons I made in Honor of this topic:

*** Your Contest Entries are due Friday, October 9, 2009, at 6pm EST. Because this week 1 of our largest competition of all time and there could be well over 100 entries, we ask that you try to keep your entries under 1,000 words to keep the reading demand down a little. However, this is _not_ a rule, and it will not be enforced. If you run over, you still qualify to compete! ***
