Oh, how very rude for LJ to have run off with all your icons. Icons are very fun - there will be no judging if you choose to pay the ransom. But I do so like the one you have been using.
I couldn't begin to make an informed comment on anything Dark Angel - aside from the fact that I do actually know who Alec and Logan are and that Alec has a serial number, but I say use plot ideas wherever you can get them and that it's totally awesome that you have a yummy new idea brewing!
Maybe Logan was protecting Alec by not naming him? Who would see the Eyes Only dossier? (I know I have it, but I never read it cover to cover, just skimmed.)
It's written in kind of a "If you're reading this I'm dead" format, except that Logan's not dead, he's just trapped in TC and someone's cut the landline he was using to access the InformantNet. And he's sending it to Matt Sung, so that those four investigations can be picked up and carried on by someone else.
Maybe he did leave Alec out of it on purpose to protect him. (I had him do that in a fic I wrote; maybe that's why it didn't occur to me that he'd do it for real.) But it doesn't really make much sense why. He mentions him by name in other parts of the dossier, but he never mentions that he's a member of Arizona? Why? Especially if he hands all of these files over to Matt to continue investigating. Matt would either need to know who Alec was, so he didn't waste time digging into him, or he'd find it out himself anyway.
So who's he really protecting Alec from? Because one way or another, Matt would figure out who he was.
Where is the Eyes Only Dossier? What is it? I'm just delighted you've got a DA plot. And I love the comment about Alec already having a name. I didn't bother to watch the first season (other than Pollo Loco), but I thought the 'named' ones were in Max's unit and they did that as a gesture of independence? I mean, I don't know that that's right, at all, it's what I told myself. So if they were actually assigned names... I am intrigued as to what Alec's may have been! He insisted on using a designation when he first met Max. Oooh! Lots of lovely Alec-think!
It's a book. Kind of like Supernatural has John Winchester's Journal? This is the Eyes Only Dossier, and it's meant to be a whole bunch of research into four topics: Sector 55, The Phoenix Project, The Grand Coulee Massacre, and Davenport Genetics (and through them, Manticore and the Conclave).
None of the X5s were assigned names, no, but they gave them to each other, just like Max's unit did. And in the section on the Phoenix Project, one of Lydecker's memos said that the members of Arizona platoon had named each other - he mentions Lane, Keema, Jewel, and Devon by name. Jace (Max's sister who stayed behind) kept her name, and Sam had one, too. In order for Alec to not have had a name, it would mean he's the only one of the original seven members of Arizona platoon who didn't, and that makes no sense.
I think the most likely scenario is that he did have one, but he's been erased so many times that he doesn't remember what it was.
